Robert Lee Williams

Passed away on February 16, 2025

Robert Lee Williams

Robert Lee Williams, 80, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2025, at his home in Pooler with his wife and daughters by his side.  He was born May 30, 1944, in Sumter, South Carolina to the late Irene Williams Funderburk and later gained a wonderful stepfather in Ellis Funderburk. Robert graduated from Jenkins High School in 1962, and then furthered his education at Armstrong State College, class of 1968, and later earned his CPA by the State of Georgia in 1984.  He started his lifelong career with Gruman/General Dynamics/Gulfstream Aerospace, where he was one of the first local hires in 1968 in Savannah.  He had a distinguished career, starting as accounting clerk, to retiring as Vice-President and Treasurer of Gulfstream Aerospace in 1999.  He made lifelong personal relationships over the years, where many co-workers became like family.  His core values included honesty and integrity.

Robert loved spending time at the beach, bowling, and fishing with grandkids at his backyard pond. He was a sports fanatic, especially watching Georgia Bulldogs football with son-in-law Patrick.  He loved music and dancing with his wife and daughters.  He enjoyed the company and comfort of his furkids, Al, Shy, and Kai. He was a patriot and supporter of veteran groups.

Above all, he loved his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 59 years, Lynette Lewis Williams, daughters, Robyn Lynch, Michelle Gray (Patrick), and Tara Williams.  He was Papa to grandchildren Holly MacNellis (Harrison), Carson Gray, Lauren Gray, Ryan Lynch, and soon to be great-granddaughter Libby MacNellis. Preceding him in death are brothers, Michael Williams, David Williams, and sister Delores Williams Bennett. Surviving him is sister Deborah Williams Premo.

Overall, he loved God, family, and country.

Please accept my sincere sympathy. I worked at Grumman in the late 60’s along with Robert. He was a kind, patient and intelligent man! May his memory be a blessing.
